The Rotary Club of Forest Grove is proud to welcome Amanda Hartmann as its newest member!
Hartmann was inducted during the club’s meeting on Wednesday, June 11. She was sponsored for membership by Andrea Stewart.
Hartmann is an agent for American Family Insurance and recently opened her own office for the firm in Forest Grove. She has been employed by American Family for the last eight years. She spent the previous three years in Colorado as an operations & process specialist.
Hartmann and her husband, Will, a water technician for the City of Cornelius, have been married four years and together have had three children: twins Lucas (two-and-a-half) and Paige and daughter Violet Mae (eight months).
During pregnancy, it was discovered that Paige had a congenital hart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. The twins were born one month prematurely and shortly after two more defects were found on Paige’s heart. Paige died at three months old, during her second open-heart surgery.
“The three months we spent in the NICU and PICU were some of the most difficult times of our lives, but nothing compares to the ache of continuing to live in a world without a piece of my heart,” Hartmann said. “Because of Paige, I am a large advocate for congenital heart defect awareness and volunteer with the local chapter of the Children’s Heart Foundation. She is my favorite person to talk about and I am always open to telling her story.”
When not chasing toddlers, the Hartmanns enjoy riding dirt bikes in the Tillamook State Forest and, in quieter moments, crocheting.
