One of the Rotary Club of Forest Grove’s ongoing projects is the maintenance of the McDougall Garden. The garden is located between Pacific Avenue, 19th Avenue and Laurel Street on the east side of Forest Grove, across from the big flagpole.

The club conducts regular work parties to keep the garden looking good, including the planting of plants and flowers, pruning, weeding and other general maintenance. Work parties take place at least twice per year.

The McDougall Garden is named in memory of Wade “Mac” McDougall, who was instrumental in getting the club involved in the garden in the 1990s. Originally from Coos Bay, Oregon, Mac was a member of the Rotary Club of Forest Grove from 1990 until his death on Sept. 17, 2002. Mac was a lifelong Rotarian in both Coos Bay and Forest Grove, and had a perfect attendance record that spanned more than 40 years. The garden was dedicated in his memory in 2003.

The garden is also the home of “Guardians of the Grove,” a cedar driftwood sculpture created by Joshua Blewett. The sculpture was installed and dedicated by the City of Forest Grove’s Public Arts Commission in 2024.
