Youth Citizens of the Month – November 2018

Nominated by teachers and administrators, and rotated monthly between Forest Grove, Banks and Gaston high schools, the Rotary Club of Forest Grove Youth Citizen of the Month program recognizes students who possess high standards of personal behavior and good citizenship, exemplify the ideals of Rotary, follow school rules and have excellent behavioral records.

From Banks Middle School, Sara Buliga is a Banks Library volunteer, on the volleyball team and in the honor society. She is kind, compassionate, hardworking, friendly and an academic all-star. Sara has been an outstanding student both in and out of the classroom. She is a friendly, organized and attentive student who demonstrates positive qualities. She always has a kind and reassuring smile that encourages and comforts others as well as a strong yet quiet leadership quality that helps her peers be successful. She is strong in all areas of academics and demonstrated incredible leadership and management skills as the stage manager in drama class last year. She helped coordinate rehearsals, props, costume and set changes, as well as ensure the show ran smoothly during performance. She was an invaluable asset to class and is respected by her peers.

At Banks High School, Noemi Avendano Gomez stands out as a hard worker with a positive attitude. She is respectful and kind to others, generous with her time, volunteers in many activities for the school including helping others with tutoring. She volunteers at the Thanksgiving dinner at Westside Bible Fellowship, is a counselor at Eagle Fern Camp, on the courtyard clean up crew and the campus clean up team, and works sports concessions. She is in the National Honor Society and maintains a 4.087 GPA. She has a great attitude and works very hard. She is always kind and respectful to others and challenges herself by setting high goals and achieving them. She is a strong leader who stays positive even against adversity. She has challenged herself by taking many of our most challenging courses offered.
