The Rotary Club of Forest Grove is proud to welcome its two newest members, Beth Hardy and Derrick Sturgill.

Hardy joins the Rotary Club of Forest Grove after four years as a member of the Hillsboro Rotary Club, where she served as the club’s community service chair, club foundation secretary, and as a board member. She was sponsored for membership in the club by Jeannine Murrell.

Born in a small farming community in western New York, Hardy lived in Utah for a couple of years before moving to Oregon in 1985. She has primarily resided in the Hillsboro area, but recently moved to Cornelius.

Hardy is a longtime insurance agent and currently operates her own Farmers Insurance office in Hillsboro.

Hardy enjoys music. She performs in small singing groups in Washington County and also performs with the Willamette Valley Big Band in Clackamas County. She is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Sturgill was sponsored for membership in the club by Evelyn Orr. He is excited to join Rotary to strengthen his family roots while serving the community.

Sturgill is a health unit coordinator (think of Radar in the television show M*A*S*H) for the medical intensive care unit at OHSU Hospital, where he has been employed for 23 years.

His family is involved in Scouting America, and he serves as cubmaster of Pack 169 in Forest Grove.

Sturgill is an active master mason, holding membership in Holbrook Masonic Lodge 30 in Forest Grove and Kenton Masonic Lodge 145 in Portland. He is also a 32nd degree mason of the Portland Valley Scottish Rite and is active in the Pacific Chapter of Demolay, the youth branch of Masonry.

Sturgill resides in Cornelius with his wife, Heather, and their sons William, Alexander and Ambrose. Among his hobbies are gold panning, metal detecting and model rocketry.

Hardy and Sturgill were inducted into the club at its September 2, 2026 meeting.
